I understand the idea I'm about to float has been broached before on deviantART. But maybe it was before my time here. So please indulge this little idea/rant...or feel free to stop reading here.
In the past couple of months I've seen a couple of photographers I watch and admire choose to leave dA. Their reason -- which is becoming much too common -- is that their art is being repeatedly stolen from this site.
I suppose that placing your art here, or on most any similar site, puts it at risk of theft. But I have to wonder aloud why, since theft apparently is an ongoing concern, those who own and run deviantART wouldn't at least make it an option for subscribers to disable the right-click option to copy photos. The option would be a welcome addition to being able to un-click the download option for deviations. That would be two deterrents.
Disabling the right-click option certainly wouldn't stop theft completely. Thieves will find a way to steal. It's what they do. But giving those of us who subscribe the option of disabling right-click could at least be another deterrent.
Just a thought to float out there. I have no delusion this single journal will make a difference or ultimately give us the option. Or perhaps it will be the seed...

On a lighter (or maybe not) note...some art featuring the elusive shadow...

...and the orange...

...and the martini

...and finally...some sculpture...

peace, everyone!
