Play for me, Minstrel, my love,
play a harp, her neck is of gold,
in a dance, which covers my soul,
I'll become the mirror of my thoughts...

Commenting on the photo you nailed the exact DOF needed. I like it.

Life is like a baboon's ass: Colorful and full of shit.
Thanks for the comment on the photo. I was worried a little about the DOF, especially for a print. But I publish a newspaper and had it printed there (one of the few privileges of being the boss!! LOL!) and it actually looked quite good in print.
Again, thanks for the comment!
BTW...checked out your gallery and you have some great work there! Nice variety and all well done!

If you have a smaller paper that really serves local, local, local news, try shooting something for that paper. The easiest in is usually shooting youth sports. Not terribly exciting stuff, but it helps sharpen your skills and local papers are usually so short-staffed that they're happy to get submissions from the public.
Also, shooting local events such as art shows, fairs, bike rallies, etc. could get you published. Just always make sure you get the names of the folks in the photos.
Keep plugging away with the photography. You're off to a great start and the only way to improve is shoot, shoot, shoot!
