Many have asked what this is. Well, it's looking right into the end of a limb on a young, long-leaf pine tree. And yes, the needles are wavy like that!

This photo was shot with a Nikon D100, Sigma 70-200, 2.8 lens and an off-brand extension tube. No filters and purely natural, mid-day lighting. Slight color enhancement in PhotoShop Elements.

Deep...rich color! Really nice composition...I love the shadows! But most of all...I love the sense of movement you captured! Wow, Rick! Definitely one of my NEW fav's! :love:

not sure about the reason for it, but the quality of the image seems to be lost as you look further away from the phocused point; perhaps saturation increase?

I love the curved shapes of the flower, though

I did run the saturation up a bit on the shot. Thanks for the comment! But I have to tell you...it's pine needles, not a flower. LOL! Hmmmm...come to think of it, perhaps it does look a bit like a flower!
